Job summary

Whelan Machine LLC in Louisville, KY is seeking a Controller to lead the subsidiary's close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls for a defense manufacturing environment.

You will partner with Ajax Defense on consolidated reporting and covenant compliance, lead ERP administration, and drive process improvements while managing accounting staff. A strong background in manufacturing accounting and ITAR-related controls is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting management role.
• Manufacturing industry experience, including standard/actual cost accounting and inventory valuation.
• Strong Excel skills and hands-on ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central, comparable discrete manufacturing ERP).
• Demonstrated experience owning an annual budgeting process and producing rolling financial forecasts, including variance analysis against plan/budget.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls in a closely held or private-equity-backed manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate financial statements.
• Deliver monthly financial and operational reporting packages to parent-company leadership.
• Own the annual operating budget process and rolling cash-flow forecast.
• Maintain standard and actual cost accounting, including labor, material, and overhead allocation.
• Manage day-to-day cash positioning, AR, AP, and intercompany transactions.
