Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our team at the Alabama River Plant in Perdue Hill, AL. The role focuses on designing and implementing control improvements across DCS and PLC systems while mentoring others and promoting safety and reliability.

You will work with mill personnel to troubleshoot controls, participate in Advanced Process Control initiatives, and collaborate with corporate teams to apply new technologies for improved manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

5–10 years of experience in Process Control / Automation systems including architecture and configuration.
Familiarity with reviewing basic loop sheets and/or P&ID’s.
Read, interpret, and develop control documentation and schematics.
Knowledge of standard MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

Implement, design, and configure advance process control systems including DCS, PLC, and VFD.
Troubleshoot paper machine finishing and converting systems such as Winder, Calendar Reel, and Wrapline operation.
Support optimization and Advanced Process Control implementation efforts for mill areas.
Support process operations by troubleshooting installed systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
Act as a project resource in installation of new instrumentation or control/automation systems.
Partner with corporate teams to implement new technologies that support advanced manufacturing.
Support the mill safety program both personally and through observation.
Work closely with mill personnel to identify opportunities and solve problems.
