Job summary

SJE in Largo, FL is seeking a skilled Control Panel Test Technician III to inspect, test, and troubleshoot custom controller panels. You will review wiring, labeling, and design, energize, and validate panels while supporting engineering and production to resolve issues.

The role requires deep experience with industrial electrical controls, PLCs, HMIs, and testing tools; mentoring junior technicians; and ensuring UL traceability documentation is maintained.

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of industrial electrical and control components including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, relays, interlocks, and breakers.
• Experience troubleshooting custom-engineered electrical control panels.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot from schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and testing with programming laptops.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to mentor less-experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot custom-engineered electrical control panels.
• Review fabrication, wiring, labeling, and design for errors; safely energize and test panels.
• Identify causes of electrical or control system issues and resolve them.
• Work with PLCs, VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, relays, and other components; use test equipment for verification.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve discrepancies and support QA.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians as a Level III resource.
