Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking a motivated Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for the Large Contract West Region Surety team. The role focuses on managing and expanding a portfolio of large domestic and international accounts across the Western states, with travel approximately 20% of the time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting, banking, mortgage, finance, or market-facing area OR 6+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree with 1+ year in underwriting/market facing area OR 4+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines; knowledge of quotes timing for new/renewal business; Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting and analyzing new and renewal business for large contract surety.
• Navigating complex assignments with confidence and autonomy.
• Building and maintaining strategic broker and agency relationships.
• Ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
