Job summary

Material is seeking a Senior Content Strategist to lead content strategy across large-scale websites and digital products. You will partner with strategy, UX, product design, and technology teams to shape content hierarchies, messaging priorities, and scalable content systems. Copywriting experience is a plus.

You will guide workshops, analyze stakeholder needs, define content models, and mentor junior team members in a hybrid, New York City or Austin setting.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in content strategy or related fields.
• Experience leading content strategy for large-scale websites and ecosystems.
• Strong strategic, analytical and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead content strategy workstreams across large-scale websites and digital products.
• Plan and run content strategy workshops with clients and internal teams.
• Analyze stakeholder interviews and research to guide direction.
• Define page-level content strategy, hierarchy, and calls to action.
• Shape information architecture, navigation, and audience pathways.
• Create content strategy deliverables like frameworks and guidelines.
• Conduct content inventories, audits, and gap analyses.
• Define content models for reusable components and CMS architectures.
• Document metadata, taxonomy, and nomenclature guidelines.
• Create, update and tag content per guidelines; manage editorial calendars.
• Document end-to-end content management processes.
• Mentor junior team members.
