Senior Consultant, OpenShift Infrastructure and Virtualization

About The Job

The Red Hat Consulting team is seeking senior-level Container Infrastructure Consultants to work remotely in the U.S. In this role, you will focus on designing and developing automated container platforms, deployment pipelines, and cloud-ready application architectures. You will learn to implement Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure projects involving container and virtualization technologies. A quick learner of new technologies is essential, as not all knowledge is expected on day one.

This position requires regular travel to client sites across North America, approximately 30-40 weeks per year. Applicants should reside near a primary airport.

What You Will Do

• Implement automated, containerized cloud application platforms covering networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and resilience.
• Rapidly learn new technologies such as container orchestration, registries, build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks.
• Travel frequently to collaborate with clients in various industries including finance, retail, telecommunications, and more.

Role

Post-hire, you will undergo intensive training on Kubernetes, OpenShift, DevOps, and GitOps. Your first-year skill development includes:

• Building production-ready container and virtualization platforms integrated with enterprise systems.
• Automating deployment of source code into scalable containers and VMs.
• Gaining practical experience with Red Hat offerings.

Within six months, you will aim to:

• Deliver customer projects using Red Hat OpenShift.
• Translate customer use cases into project plans aligned with Red Hat technologies.
• Understand how Red Hat’s solutions can transform software delivery practices.

Within a year, you will demonstrate leadership by:

• Implementing large-scale container solutions in complex environments.
• Mentoring peers in DevOps/GitOps and container technologies.
• Contributing to knowledge sharing within communities of practice.
• Applying emerging technologies and methodologies to container platforms.

What You Will Bring

• Experience leading cloud platform consulting projects.
• Deep technical knowledge of VMware ESXi, vCenter, VM lifecycle, networking (S/DV switches, NSX), storage (Datastores, vSAN, vVols), and related tools.
• Experience with third-party tools like Aria/vRealize, SRM, backup, and performance tools.
• Familiarity with OpenStack, Red Hat Virtualization, Microsoft Hyper-V, AWS, Azure is a plus.
• Experience in vertical industry sectors and strategic advisory roles.
• Agile, Scrum, and DevOps team experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively within North America.
• Degree in computer science or a related technical field.

The salary range is $111,260 - $183,580, based on qualifications.
