Senior Consultant, OpenShift Infrastructure and Virtualization

About The Job

The Red Hat Consulting team is seeking senior-level Container Infrastructure Consultants to work remotely in the U.S. In this role, you will design and develop automated container platforms, deployment pipelines, and cloud-ready application architectures. You will also guide the implementation of Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure projects involving container and virtualization technologies. A quick learner with a passion for technology is essential, as you won't be expected to know everything from day one.

This position requires regular on-site work with clients across North America, with travel of approximately 30-40 weeks per year. Applicants should reside near a primary airport.

Responsibilities

• Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions, focusing on networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and system resilience.
• Learn new technologies rapidly, including container orchestration, registries, build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks.
• Travel frequently to collaborate with clients in various sectors such as finance, retail, telecommunications, and institutions.

Role Development

Participants will undergo intensive training on Kubernetes, OpenShift, DevOps, and GitOps. During the first year, you will:

• Build production-ready container and virtualization platforms.
• Deploy source code into scalable containers and VMs automatically.
• Gain practical experience with Red Hat offerings.

Within 6 months, you will:

• Deliver customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift.
• Develop customer use cases into project plans.
• Understand how Red Hat technologies can transform software delivery practices.

By 12 months, you will demonstrate leadership by:

• Implementing large-scale container solutions.
• Mentoring peers in DevOps and container technologies.
• Contributing to best practices and lessons learned.
• Applying new frameworks and methodologies.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cloud platform consulting engagements.
• Deep technical expertise with VMware ESXi, vCenter, VM lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of logging and alerting tools like Splunk.
• Expertise in VMware networking (Switches, NSX) and storage (Datastores, vSAN, vVols).
• Familiarity with third-party tools such as Aria/vRealize, SRM, backup, and performance tools.
• Experience with OpenStack, Red Hat Virtualization, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively within North America.
• Degree in computer science or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range is $111,260 - $183,580, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, retirement plans, paid leave, and additional perks.
