Position Overview: The Senior Consultant will take a client-centric view and apply a consultative approach to understanding and solving complex problems faced by state and local education agencies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of state and local strategies that expand PCG’s impact on teaching and learning across the New Jersey and New York region. The Senior Consultant will provide local leadership, partnership, and expertise in supporting state education agency and school district clients in their efforts related to special education, strategic planning, data management, and use. While a remote role, it is expected that the successful candidate reside within New Jersey or New York, have a strong reputation within that region, and be able to travel to client locations as needed to meet with and support clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as a valued, trusted partner to state and local agency clients, applying a consultative approach to understanding and solving complex problems that inhibit effective teaching and learning.
  2. Helps clients devise forward-looking visions and strategic plans and serves as a change agent in supporting the realization of those visions and plans.
  3. Builds and maintains strong professional networks within the education sector of the assigned territory.
  4. Understands and serves as an expert in complex federal regulations and requirements.
  5. Independently manages complex projects, staff, and tasks with limited supervision while meeting and exceeding performance expectations.
  6. Develops and leads effective communication plans with client agencies and individuals.
  7. Identifies and elicits requirements from key stakeholders in each engagement.
  8. Serves as a subject matter expert within the practice with a strong understanding of federal requirements for funding and service provision.
  9. Develops and executes new growth strategies.
  10. Identifies new sales opportunities and follows up on sales leads.
  11. Identifies gaps and shortcomings, and determines necessary workarounds.
  12. Plans and monitors ongoing project tasks.
  13. Delegates tasks and responsibilities to team members.
  14. Assesses best practices and provides technical assistance to clients.
  15. Leads proposal writing teams, including writing sections, coordinating efforts, and preparing proposal submissions.
  16. Prepares other written reports and materials for clients.
  17. Mentors, supervises, and develops more junior staff members within the practice and firm.
  18. Manages daily project functions and client interaction.
Required Skills:
  1. Deep working knowledge of K-12 public school systems within New Jersey and/or New York.
  2. Ability to effectively engage, connect, and develop strong relationships with agency executives, teachers, administrators, and stakeholders.
  3. Strong quantitative skills and able to analyze and interpret data.
  4. Ability to research, analyze, and interpret policy, legal briefs, and regulations.
  5. Able to work independently and consistently achieve excellent results.
  6. Able to work effectively with all members of project teams.
  7. Outstanding oral and written presentation skills.
  8. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to successfully create new business opportunities and expand services and impact with existing customers.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor degree or 10 years’ experience required, graduate degree preferred.
  2. 5-10 years’ relevant work experience.

Compensation:

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $80,000-$125,000. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
