Job summary

MEC is seeking a Safety Manager to uphold the “Nobody Gets Hurt” commitment on a construction project. You will develop, implement, and audit safety protocols, lead training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies, overseeing safety management for craft workers, subcontractors, and consultants.

The initial location is Boise, ID or New York. You will relocate as needed based on work, partnering with field operations to drive leading indicators and safety performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience; 5+ years in construction safety management.
• Knowledge of construction safety, Federal and OSHA standards; proficient in Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed; access to various construction site areas.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, update, and communicate the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all project personnel, including subcontractors.
• Ensure safety protocols align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and company standards.
• Collaborate daily with craft workers to encourage buy-in and ownership of the safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, and work plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with field operations based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents; analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Provide timely safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
