International Contractors, Inc. in Oakbrook Terrace, IL seeks a Senior Level Commercial Construction - Project Manager to lead complex projects across retail, hospitality, education, and office spaces.

You will guide project scope, schedule, and budgets, while nurturing client and A/E relationships and coordinating with internal teams. The role requires a long track record in commercial construction, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Ten+ years of proven Project Management experience on commercial construction projects.
  • Proven judgement and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Team to set and achieve project goals.
  • Prepare profit projections and manage budgeting and scheduling.
  • Lead preconstruction efforts on negotiated projects.
  • Write scopes of work, review bids, and suggest value design options.
  • Oversee safety, direction, and overall financial outcomes from start to closeout.
  • Build durable client and A/E relationships while pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Ensure quality construction and compliance with owner contract requirements.
  • Regularly travel to job sites, including out-of-state locations.

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the overall success of the construction project. This role will participate in the development of the project, oversee the scheduling, budgeting, and execution, and is responsible for the year-end profit and/or loss of projects. Some supervision of other Project Managers, Project Engineers and Interns will be required. The SPM will nurture client and A/E relationships with long standing clients and engage with business development in acquiring and building new relationships.

Some of the specific responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager include:

  • Collaborate with the Project Team to establish, monitor and achieve project goals
  • Prepare profit projections
  • Lead preconstruction efforts on negotiated projects
  • Write detailed scopes of work, review and evaluate bids and provide value design suggestions.
  • Hold overall responsibility for safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from initial budget through project closeout
  • Organize and create structure for successful projects while being flexible and comfortable with change
  • Manage communication and resolve any conflicts
  • Manage and mitigate risk throughout project lifecycle
  • As an active part of the business development team, build lasting client and A/E relationships while simultaneously driving results
  • Ensure quality construction, safety standards and the proper use of construction techniques
  • Accurately estimate and value engineer projects from conceptual budget thru construction documents
  • Provide initial schedule for estimating and bidding purposes and detailed baseline schedule for construction activities utilizing Microsoft Schedule
  • Ensure compliance with all Owner contract requirements
  • Regular travel to job sites, some of which may be out of state
  • Utilize project management software systems in place (Procore) to record and track all project documentation
  • Manage projects in progress including vendor coordination, conflict resolution, documentation and ensuring quality and safety
  • Manage project costs through the ongoing evaluation of labor, material and equipment, and continue to forecast and analyze construction costs, exposures and profits through project completion
  • Maintain open, responsive, and professional communication with all team members

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Similar
  • Ten Years + of Proven Project Management experience on Commercial Construction Projects
  • Requires Proven Experience and Judgement
