Job summary

H. J. Russell & Company seeks a Project Executive to lead major construction programs from preconstruction through warranty.

You will provide executive oversight, drive GMP development, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to achieve scope, schedule, and budget goals. The role requires 15+ years of experience on complex projects, proven GMP leadership, and a track record of safe, on‑time, within‑budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Construction, Business Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive commercial construction experience, including significant project management and executive leadership.
• Demonstrated experience leading one or more construction projects with contract value of at least $50 million.
• Experience managing projects under CM-at-Risk, GMP, design‑assist, or similar delivery methods.
• Direct experience leading development, reconciliation, negotiation, and final GMP establishment during preconstruction.
• Experience managing complex project teams and supervising Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and project support personnel.
• Strong understanding of estimating, trade procurement, subcontractor buyout, contract administration, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, change management, claims, and project closeout.
• Proven ability to manage executive client relationships and lead difficult commercial, contractual, and performance discussions.
• Demonstrated record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and at required quality.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, estimates, and financial reports.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for multiple projects or a major, complex project from preconstruction through final completion and warranty.
• Lead project teams and ensure safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction.
• Establish goals, responsibilities, communication protocols, and decision-making authority.
• Coordinate among Project Manager, Superintendent, Preconstruction Manager, MEP/VDC personnel, and controls staff.
• Evaluate performance and intervene with corrective action when needed.
• Provide timely project reporting to leadership.
• Lead GMP development and ensure GMP aligns with contract documents and scope.
• Oversee procurement planning, buyout strategy, and risk assessments.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, and change management; ensure accurate reporting.
• Develop and maintain executive-level client relationships and pursue repeat business.
