Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced Project Finance Accountant to lead day-to-day accounting for construction projects in Austin. You will ensure GAAP compliance, manage AR/AP activities, supervise accounting staff, and drive process improvements to increase accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

Responsibilities include month-end close, audits, and collaboration with project teams to analyze WIP, cash flow, and contract terms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting policies.
• Experience with AP/AR processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for project Finance accounting questions and issues.
• Follow policies, procedures, workflows, approvals, and record retention.
• Mentor Accounting team on policies and system workflows.
• Provide training and support to accounting staff using materials.
• Prepare timely, audit-ready documentation and support.
• Coordinate with SSO on AR/AP activities and feedback.
• Improve accounting processes, reduce manual efforts, and standardize workflows.
• Lead implementation of finance procedures for billing and AR compliance.
• Analyze billing deadlines, terms, and billable/non-billable expenses.
• Audit client billing and project ledgers for GAAP compliance.
• Manage cash position, identify risks, and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Review AP analysis, cost trends, and ledger accuracy.
• Verify invoice coding and approvals per SAAM requirements.
• Monitor WIP schedules and percent completion per GAAP.
• Analyze budget variances and report insights to leadership.
• Lead month-end close for projects and intercompany reviews.
• Support year-end activities and reconciliations.
