Job summary

NTH Consultants, Ltd. is seeking a seasoned field tester to perform routine concrete, soils and asphalt testing and to monitor projects across Michigan.

You will generate accurate daily field reports, operate testing equipment, and assist engineers with field monitoring activities in a collaborative setting. The role requires extensive field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel to job sites.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• ACI/MCA Concrete Testing Technician Level I or higher.
• MDOT Density Technology Certification.
• Certifications such as Aggregate Sampling, HMA Sampling, Floor Flatness Testing, ICC Special Inspection, and AWS Welding Inspector are a plus.
• Ten or more years of field experience in construction including concrete, soils and pavement testing.
• Ability to train and mentor staff to improve technical competency.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings, MDOT requirements, and other construction docs.
• Strong written and oral communication; able to work in teams and independently.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs, hold a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel in Michigan.
• Authorized to work full-time in the U.S.A.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks, tests, and computations for construction materials testing and field observations under supervision.
• Sample and test concrete, soils, asphalt and other construction materials on projects.
• Complete and submit accurate Daily Field Reports.
• Assist engineering staff with field monitoring activities.
• Independently operate relevant testing/monitoring equipment.
• Perform other tasks as necessary.
