Job summary

DEFTEC Corporation in Colorado Springs seeks a Construction Manager to lead the full lifecycle of awarded construction projects, from design coordination through construction management, field surveying, and closeout, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and mission needs.

You will develop project requirement packages, define schedules and milestones, prepare independent Government cost estimates, and oversee multi-discipline construction operations while maintaining quality and safety

Qualifications

• Has at least 5 years of construction/contract experience.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, methods, practices, and cost estimating for facilities, pavement, and utilities.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local codes; standard contracting regulations and negotiation techniques.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project, and NexGen IT.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the technical expert for the full lifecycle of awarded construction projects, from design coordination through construction management, field surveying, and final project closeout, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, engineering standards, and mission needs.
• Develops complete project requirement packages by identifying functional and technical needs, defining schedule requirements and milestones, and preparing independent Government cost estimates for acquisition and budgeting.
• Perform management and surveillance of large, multi-discipline construction operations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and quality requirements; interpret design documents; resolve construction problems; evaluate quality control systems.
• Independently review and analyze submittals, RFIs, material proposals, and shop drawings; recommend approval/disapproval per contract; investigate complex change orders and support cost negotiations within delegated authority.
