Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Construction Management Senior at the University of Iowa to oversee safe, efficient, and high-quality construction projects across Main and Oakdale campuses, including the University Hospital, under the UI energy/utility program.

You will lead safety planning, manage field teams, develop HSEQ plans, coordinate with GIS for utilities, monitor compliance, and partner with engineers to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery; this role is on-site with potential

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree preferred or equivalent construction management/engineering experience.
• Minimum five years of construction management experience on industrial or municipal projects.
• Deep knowledge of thermal plant design, construction, and operations; understands campus energy systems and delivery methods (Design-Build, CMAR).
• Commitment to safety leadership and zero-incident culture.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to build trust and resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction safety planning and develop HSE plans.
• Maintain a strong safety presence in the field and enforce safety culture.
• Prepare and implement comprehensive HSEQ plans for capital projects.
• Coordinate with GIS analysts to identify buried utilities and integrate findings into safety plans.
• Monitor construction activities for safety, quality, and code compliance; track schedule and budget.
• Support project development with bidder visits, RFIs, cost estimation, and scheduling; review contractor plans for constructability and maintenance safety.
• Partner with engineers/managers to develop specs and construction documents and oversee change management and payment applications.
• Oversee QA/QC and commissioning to ensure work meets specs and is operable.
