Job summary

ENGIE is seeking a Construction Management Senior at The University of Iowa to lead safe, efficient construction across campus utilities projects under a 50-year concession. You will drive pre-construction safety, implement HSEQ plans, and coordinate with GIS to identify utilities, ensuring compliance with ENGIE standards and project timelines.

The role emphasizes on-site leadership, contractor coordination, and accurate cost/schedule control with potential night/weekend work and OSHA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited preferred) or high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of equivalent experience
• Minimum five (5) years’ construction management experience on industrial or municipal projects with proven safety, quality, and schedule performance
• Deep knowledge of thermal plant design, construction, and operations and campus energy systems
• Commitment to safety leadership and zero incidents
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for meetings and performance goals
• Experience in RFQ/RFP evaluations, subcontractor management, contract administration, change management
• Proficiency in technical communication and reporting using Microsoft Office and Procore
• Daily presence on active construction sites; not eligible for hybrid work schedule
• Ability to access confined spaces and lift materials; physical construction environment work

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction safety planning and develop HSE plans
• Maintain a strong safety presence through daily site walks and engagement with contractors
• Prepare and implement comprehensive HSEQ plans for capital projects
• Coordinate with GIS analysts to identify buried utilities and integrate findings into safety plans
• Monitor construction activities for safety, quality, and code compliance
• Support project development with RFIs, cost estimation, and scheduling
• Collaborate with engineers/managers to develop specifications and construction docs
• Oversee QA/QC and commissioning processes ensuring safe operable conditions
