Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Manager in Kingsport, TN to lead construction projects from proposal to commissioning.

You will oversee subcontractor performance, manage schedule and budget, and ensure compliance with design intent and safety standards. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and proven experience in construction project management, with strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Knowledge of construction processes, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and safety standards.
• Experience in construction project management on the owner’s side or as a CM.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of construction projects from concept through closeout.
• Serve as project team member with primary responsibility for relationship with construction sub-contractors on schedule and quality.
• Participate in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management from proposal stage.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design intent, contract requirements, codes, and site standards.
• Review and approve contractor schedules, pay applications, change orders, and critical submittals.
• Coordinate procurement activities including bid development, evaluation, and contract award.
• Track progress against schedule and budget; identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure construction standards and quality control measures are maintained.
• Facilitate progress meetings and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
• Support checkout, commissioning, and close-out activities including punch lists and handover of documentation.
• Promote and enforce safety practices aligned with site requirements.
