Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 30 credit hours vocational training in carpentry, plumbing, or welding.
• Three years of construction experience.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret sketches.
• Strong leadership and staff-training ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train and review the work of staff responsible for construction, maintenance and remodeling of facilities and parks.
• Plan, direct and participate in all construction activities; oversee a wide variety of facilities and structures.
• Train staff in rough- and finish-carpentry, cement-finishing and welding methods.
• Supervise use and operation of construction equipment including dump trucks and small gear.
• Verify work accuracy and compliance with standards and specifications.
• Construct buildings and structures using block, concrete and metal; oversee cement-finishing tasks.
• Read blueprints to ensure conformity with project specs.
• Perform other construction tasks including fencing, painting, plastering, welding and plumbing.
• Respond to public inquiries and resolve complaints promptly, safely.
