Job summary

Garg Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support transportation infrastructure projects across Northern and Central New Jersey.

This on-site role requires coordinating daily with contractors, engineers, and client agencies, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and safety standards. The position involves advanced field inspections, pay quantity verification, and mentoring junior staff, with potential technical leadership on projects for NJ DOT, NJTA, NJ

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of field inspection experience at senior level.
• Active NJ P.E. license or NICET IV certification preferred.
• Certified ACI, NJ SAT Asphalt Tech, Rutgers Traffic Control Coordinator.
• OSHA 30 certification and background check eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee daily field inspections of roadway, bridge, rail, and transportation projects.
• Ensure compliance with plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Serve as senior field liaison between contractors, engineers, and agencies.
• Document quantities, labor, equipment, and progress using digital tools.
• Review pay quantities and assist with progress payments and estimates.
• Review material certifications, test results, and submittals before installation.
• Inspect traffic/erosion control per plans and regulations.
• Identify non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions.
• Mentor junior inspectors and provide technical field input.
• Attend meetings and support project closeout activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR equivalent experience

Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Senior Construction Inspector or Resident Engineer

New Jersey P.E. license or NICET Level IV Highway Construction Inspection certification

ACI certification

NJ SAT Asphalt Technician certification

Rutgers Traffic Control Coordinator certification

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification

TWIC Card eligibility and background screening compliance
