Job summary

UNICO Engineering in Camarillo, CA is seeking a seasoned Construction Inspector with 5+ years of experience in roadways, bridges, and utilities. You will inspect ongoing construction, review plans, and ensure compliance with Caltrans and local agency standards.

Coordinate with clients, owners, consultants, contractors, and testers; document daily activities with reports and photos; support project schedules, change orders, and communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in transportation, structures and utility projects.
• Proven construction inspection experience on road/bridge projects.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of CAL OSHA practices and procedures preferred.
• Bridge construction inspection experience required.
• Clean DMV license and record.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily inspections and complete documentation including daily reports and project photographs.
• Coordinate with clients/owners, other consultants, contractors, materials testers and others involved with the project.
• Assist Resident Engineers and provide input on project schedule, extra work bills, potential change orders, and communications with businesses and residents.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Monitor construction for compliance with project documents including materials tags and certificates of compliance.
• Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials per client policies.
• Inspect road and bridge construction (Caltrans standards) including grades, formwork, rebar, concrete tickets, curing.
• Communicate with project team and provide recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
