Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Construction Inspector IV or V in the Mount Pleasant area to oversee outdoor inspection activities for transportation projects. You will monitor quality, safety, and adherence to plans, while guiding contractor teams and providing daily project records and reporting.
The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and effective communication with project engineers, district personnel, and contractors.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction inspection or transportation engineering preferred.
- Substitution of related college education or technical training may apply.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate state vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Oversees construction record-keeping and payments to contractors.
- Ensures roadways, bridges, and highway structures meet plans and specs.
- Prepares monthly and final estimates; reviews change orders.
- Attends pre-construction meetings; answers contractor questions.
- Leads, mentors, and coordinates other inspectors.
- Trains staff on work methods and safety standards.
