Job summary

Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) New York Office is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector to support The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at JFK Airport.

You will perform construction inspection activities through all project phases and prepare daily narratives and reports. The role requires a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, 10+ years of site inspection experience, ability to read plans, and a valid Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum 10 years of experience inspecting construction work.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and contract documents.
• Must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge, including security checks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience preparing daily reports and contract documentation.
• Experience reviewing contractor payment applications and documenting extra work.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers, and facility personnel.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Willing to work weekends and night shifts when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction inspection activities throughout all phases of the project.
• Prepare daily narratives, special inspection reports, time-and-material records, and unit price documentation.
• Identify potential extra work issues and notify the Resident Engineer/Assistant Resident Engineer.
• Prepare extra work estimates and supporting documentation.
• Review plans for constructability and provide comments.
• Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness.
• Coordinate inspections at multiple work locations.
• Perform quality assurance inspections of completed work.
• Verify compliance with safety requirements.
