Job summary

GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector in St. Louis, MO to lead inspection activities on transportation projects.

You will verify dimensions, levels, and conformity with plans, while coordinating with clients and contractors to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience, a safety-first mindset, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures.
• A safety-first mindset.
• Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specs.
• Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
• Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
• Interpret plans and discuss deviations to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Record quantities of materials, develop pay estimates and change orders.
• Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and progress reports.
• Monitor multiple work activities and ensure safety practices are followed.
• Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.
