Job summary

Kleinfelder's Construction Services team seeks a Senior Construction Inspector / Inspector III to perform on-site inspections, verify compliance with standards, and review contract plans on bridges, roadways, and environmental components.

Positions are available in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads. You will prepare reports, conduct field testing, coordinate QA/QC, and support safety programs while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years in the field or related training in construction inspection or testing.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
• Experience with equipment used in construction inspection and field testing.
• English fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Reliable, punctual and independent work ethic.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to pass fingerprint/background check and certifications (as applicable).
• Construction field materials testing certifications (asphalt, concrete, workzone, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor construction sites to verify compliance with standards, codes and plans.
• Prepare and submit daily inspection reports and project records.
• Adhere to contract documentation and perform testing of materials.
• Assist in preparing change orders, estimates, and progress pay documents.
• Verify lines and grades and coordinate field testing as required.
• Perform basic earthwork, staking, and related calculations.
• Communicate with contractors, owners, and stakeholders; act as on-site administrator when needed.
• Mentor staff and participate in Kleinfelder safety programs.
