Duties: The role involves inspecting work performed by construction contractors to ensure conformance with contract plans and specifications, contract administration, reporting daily progress, tracking and documenting quantities of work performed, resolving construction problems and challenges in the field, and other oversight responsibilities as assigned. Candidates should have knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, strong communication skills, documentation control, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and perform quantity takeoffs/calculations.
Qualifications: Experience in inspecting, testing, or managing construction projects is required. Proficiency in computers including MS Word, Excel, and construction reporting/quantity tracking software is necessary. Candidates must have effective written and oral communication skills, eagerness to learn, willingness to perform various tasks, and be a team player.
A minimum of four years of experience in civil, highway, or a relevant engineering field is required, with at least two years in a field inspection capacity.
A NICET Level 3 certification is required. Alternatively, a current State of Connecticut Professional Engineer's License or a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in a relevant field is acceptable. A BS Degree can substitute for two years of experience. Additional certifications such as NACE Coatings Inspection, ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, NETTCP HMA Inspector, NETTCP Concrete Inspector, Soils and Concrete, ACI Technician, and AWS/CWI are advantageous.
