Join to apply for the Senior Construction Inspector role at WSP in the U.S.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Construction Inspector for work located in the Fredericksburg, VA area, specifically in Saluda & Northern Neck.

Your Impact

Responsibilities include:

1. Inspecting and reviewing work in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including roadway, bridge, paving, drainage, electrical, ITS, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, standards, and codes.
2. Interpreting roadway and bridge plans, building plans, specifications, and contracts.
3. Monitoring, observing, and reporting on field quality control and quality assurance for materials testing activities, conducting routine field tests.
4. Keeping detailed records of contractor performance and progress.
5. Measuring and recording materials for contractor payments.
6. Conducting receiving inspections upon material delivery to verify conformance with documentation and contract requirements.
7. Creating and maintaining daily inspection reports and project logs.
8. Utilizing construction management software such as AASHTO’s Field Manager, ProCore, or Primavera.
9. Recommending field changes to drawings and specifications when necessary.
10. Working effectively as a team member without close supervision.
11. Maintaining communication with clients and contractors, attending meetings, and working in various weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 9 years of experience in inspection or highway/building construction, with pavement experience preferred.
• Full VDOT Certification and related qualifications.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in math, English, and computer operation.
• Knowledge of safety, environmental regulations, and ethical decision-making.

Preferred:

• Experience with VDOT or local agencies.
• Active construction management certifications, including safety and inspection certifications.
• Experience with interstate construction/inspection.
