Mead & Hunt is seeking a mid-level Construction Inspector to support SCDOT projects in South Carolina. You will inspect transportation construction, verify materials, and document daily progress while traveling statewide.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights/volumes.
• Plot cross sections and prepare as-builts during progress; conduct materials testing.
• Document inspected work daily and travel to construction sites across the state; valid driver’s license required.
• Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for SCDOT projects in South Carolina.

A Mid-Level Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will hold at least four applicable certifications, and one of the following:

• A Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field plus four years relevant experience

OR

• Associate degree in construction management or related field plus six years relevant experience

OR

• If no degree, at least eight years of relevant experience

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

• SCDOT construction inspection and materials testing certifications. Working knowledge of SCDOT standards, specifications, and material testing procedures
• SCDOT Foundations Certification required
• Additional SCDOT certifications and CEPSCI certification preferred
