Job description

As a Construction Inspector-Senior, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects include bridges, roadways, and environmental components. This position is available in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect and monitor construction sites and activities to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
  2. Prepare and submit daily reports documenting inspections and relevant project information.
  3. Adhere to all project contract documentation and test materials associated with inspections.
  4. Assist in preparing contract change orders, estimates, pay estimates, and other project documents or reports.
  5. Verify lines and grades of project improvements.
  6. Coordinate and perform field testing of materials as required.
  7. Calculate quantities for pay estimates.
  8. Perform analytical calculations such as earthwork, grading, profiles, and staking procedures.
  9. Communicate verbally and in writing with contractors, owners, and stakeholders.
  10. Act as on-site Administrator in their absence.
  11. May direct and coordinate staff and mentor others’ technical expertise.
  12. Participate actively in Kleinfelder's Safety Programs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction inspection, materials testing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and construction equipment and testing methods.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
  • Valid State Driver's License with acceptable record.
  • Ability to pass background checks.
  • Construction materials testing certifications (e.g., asphalt, concrete, environmental).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent, including relevant coursework.
