Join our dynamic and expanding specialized construction company as a Senior Estimator, where your experience in public works construction will shine. As an essential member of our pre-construction team, you will play a critical role in managing all estimating functions through the pre-construction phase of our projects. Your expertise will be vital in value engineering, budget controls, and conducting thorough constructability reviews to ensure our estimates, bids, and proposals are comprehensive, accurate, and backed by the latest pricing data and subcontractor input.

Key Responsibilities :

• Organize and distribute design documents to team members efficiently.
• Collaborate with procurement to coordinate subcontractor bid lists for accurate budget pricing.
• Manage the flow of design documents to subcontractors, ensuring ample input is gathered.
• Thoroughly review design documents and request necessary information to complete estimates.
• Confirm all approved revisions are incorporated and communicate exceptions as needed.
• Arrange pre-bid meetings and conduct site walk-throughs with subcontractors.
• Assess existing site conditions and identify any scope needed that might be overlooked in design documents.
• Work closely with the Pre-construction Manager to set up estimates, schedules, and responsibility matrices.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs, analyses, and estimates across assigned trades and building systems.
• Provide pricing for value engineering and other special studies as required.
• Prepare bid proposal forms for subcontractors, evaluate submissions, and pinpoint scope gaps or overlaps.
• Ensure all pricing is accurate and reflects the most recent data and subcontractor bids.
• Participate in internal estimate review meetings.
• Lead the inclusion of operational insights during estimating, bidding, and proposal processes, ensuring logistics are thoroughly considered.
• Develop, lead, or support the assembly of all required estimates and proposal documents for submission.
• Engage in collaborative review meetings with architects, engineers, and owners, integrating their feedback into revised estimates.
• Take on a leading or supporting role in Lump Sum Bids as needed.
• Foster and enhance relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Analyze various cost data and develop metrics for estimating building systems costs.
• Prepare comparison analyses of previous estimates and communicate variances effectively to stakeholders.

Qualifications :

• In-depth knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices.
• Ability to lead a pre-construction team to achieve targeted goals.
• Strong conceptual thinking to work effectively with minimal information.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
• Proficient in understanding estimating documents and conducting accurate qualitative and quantitative analyses.
• Excellent multitasking abilities and adherence to deadlines.
• Extensive experience in estimating public works projects.

Experience :

A minimum of 10 years as a construction estimator with a background in project engineering, field supervision, or procurement, preferably with a large general contractor.

Education :

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or equivalent experience.

Language Skills :

Ability to read and interpret construction documents and building codes. Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.

Computer Skills :

Proficient with standard software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Building Connected, Bluebeam, Smart Sheets, and estimating software.
