Job summary

Puget Sound Energy in Washington is seeking a Construction Environmental Compliance Lead to oversee environmental requirements across major capital projects, serving as the Owner's Environmental Representative and providing strategic guidance from project development through operations.

The role focuses on regulatory coordination, development and implementation of CEMPs and SWPPPs, contractor oversight, and risk mitigation, while mentoring staff and directing consultants.

Qualifications

• BS and MS in Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, Engineering, Anthropology, Mathematics or similar with 10 years of field experience.
• Significant experience in electric and/or gas supply industry or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to build regulatory relationships.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Construction Environmental Compliance Lead and Owner's Environmental Representative for project development, construction, close-out, and transition to operations.
• Performs analyses and advises on environmental compliance risks, regulatory strategy, and project execution issues.
• Leads regulatory coordination with federal, state, local, tribal, and industry stakeholders on high-profile projects.
• Directs development and implementation of CEMPs, SWPPPs, permit tracking, and contractor compliance oversight.
• Mentors staff and directs consultants, contractors, and technical specialists to ensure environmental compliance.
• Develops presentations, management briefings, reports, and compliance documentation for leadership and regulatory agencies.
• Develops, manages, and monitors budgets for departmental and project objectives.
• Supports departmental initiatives, business planning, and continuous improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
