Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to lead accounting operations for California construction projects. You will own job costing, revenue recognition, WIP reporting, and project financials, partnering with Project Management, Operations, and leadership to improve profitability.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in construction accounting, strong GAAP expertise, and an active CPA or CPA-eligible background.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA strongly preferred.
7+ years progressive accounting experience, with significant construction industry exposure.
Strong understanding of construction accounting, WIP, and percentage-of-completion.
Experience with AIA billing, retainage, lien waivers, and project reporting.

Responsibilities

Oversee construction accounting operations, including GL, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Manage revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and construction standards.
Oversee job costing and ensure accurate coding and reporting of project costs.
Prepare WIP schedules, cost-to-complete estimates, gross profit projections, and revenue recognition.
Partner with PMs and Operations to analyze project financial performance and variances.
Lead AIA billings, progress billings, retainage, AR, and collections; review lien waivers.
Ensure change orders, subcontractor costs, labor, materials, and indirect costs are accurately accounted for.
Monitor project margins, identify risks, and support budgeting and forecasting.
Lead monthly and year-end closes and maintain strong internal controls.
Support audits, tax compliance, and external reporting requirements.
