Job summary

Christman Constructors, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead financial operations in the Lansing/Livonia, MI region.

You will design and enforce controls, manage month-end closes, coordinate tax and audits, and mentor the accounting team to support project growth and profitability. The role requires a bachelor's in accounting/finance, 10+ years in finance, CPA/CCIFP is preferred, and construction industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum ten (10) years' experience in the accounting and finance sector.
• -or- Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
• Four (4) years' experience managing direct reports within an Accounting Department and the accounting and finance process.
• Three (3) years' experience working as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
• Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains financial controls to secure the company's financial resources.
• Completes company and state specific tasks and reporting, as required.
• Prepares work papers supporting the completion of annual tax returns.
• Mentors and develops accounting team members and ensures maximum utilization of staff.
• Coordinates annual tax return preparation with outside CPA firm and annual audit with CPAs.
• Reviews monthly close process and prepares monthly financial statements.
• Performs cash projections to manage cash balances and optimize excess cash.
• Prepares periodic management reports and analysis for leadership.
