Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner for the Construction Casualty Claims team in our New York office. This role offers the chance to handle and adjust complex construction casualty claims within a collaborative, client-focused environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of casualty claims experience, strong negotiation and investigative skills, and the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions while delivering excellent service to clients

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience handling casualty claims.
• Strong investigative and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team across jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and adjust construction casualty claims on primary and excess policies.
• Handle claims from first notice of loss through resolution, with clients and brokers.
• Collaborate with insured and broker to adjudicate claims.
• Draft coverage letters and communicate positions clearly.
• Monitor investigations and coordinate experts and defense counsel.
• Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages to determine exposure.
• Prepare reports, set reserves, and propose reserve changes.
• Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as needed.
