Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance in New York seeks an experienced Casualty Underwriter to join the Casualty team. The role focuses on expanding the book of business and developing broker and client relationships in the New York Region.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in casualty underwriting or broking, strong underwriting acumen, existing broker and customer relationships, and the ability to work independently and in a team while traveling as required.

• Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships in the New York Region.
• Work closely with loss control, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
• Maintain a profitable renewal book.
• Attend customer and broker meetings.

Job Opportunity

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Casualty Underwriter to join our Casualty team based out of New York.

This role is a great fit for an underwriter or broker with at least 5 years’ experience working in casualty, ideally in excess casualty or E&S casualty. In this role the experienced Casualty underwriter will be responsible for expanding and developing new business opportunities through production and marketing calls with brokers and clients, prequalifying new business and utilizing underwriting acumen to identify and select sound casualty risks.

The base salary range for this position in New York is $125,000 - $180,000 along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
