Job summary

The Town of Chapel Hill is seeking a Construction Project Manager to oversee design, construction, and major maintenance projects. The role requires independent work on complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives with strong civil/architectural engineering understanding.

Ideal candidates have at least five years of PM experience, knowledge of grants and contracts, and the ability to coordinate diverse teams while maintaining schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, building construction, architecture, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of construction project management experience.
• Experience managing municipal capital improvement projects and cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local construction laws, codes, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex capital improvement projects from planning through closeout.
• Develop budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage contracts and change orders.
• Coordinate design consultants, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure QA, safety, and compliance with contract requirements on site.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation for stakeholders.
