You will collaborate with field leadership, customer engineering, and project teams to identify risks, align designs with safe methods, and support on-time delivery per utility standards.

The role emphasizes QA/QC with field inspections, documentation, and corrective actions to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent knowledge or skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 7+ Years of progressive experience in electrical utility construction with increasing levels of field and project leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated background in electrical utility construction with direct, hands-on experience in transmission and/or distribution systems.
  • Experience developing or administering a formal QA/QC program in a utility construction environment, a plus.
  • Familiarity with AEP and/or Dominion Energy construction standards, specifications, and project delivery processes, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead constructability reviews for assigned work, identifying scope gaps, safety concerns, and field constraints; recommend practical adjustments to improve execution.
  • Support execution planning by validating construction sequencing, crew approach, equipment needs, and work packages; highlight critical-path constraints and mitigation actions.
  • Evaluate resource and equipment plans (crews, specialty tools, cranes, access equipment) to ensure alignment with selected means and methods, site conditions, and constructability constraints.
  • Verify field conditions against plans and specifications; maintain redlines, as-builts, and constructability notes to support accurate design updates and closeout documentation.
  • Identify and communicate constructability-driven risks (access/ROW, permitting, outages/switching windows, sequencing conflicts, material lead times) and support timely resolution with internal and customer teams.
  • Support constructability-driven alternatives and value improvements (means/methods, phasing, material substitutions where permitted) by evaluating productivity, safety, and quality impacts.
  • Coordinate directly with customer engineering and project teams to align design intent with field conditions, constructability constraints, and execution sequencing.
  • Participate in customer meetings to review constructability, construction sequencing, outage/switching considerations, access/ROW constraints, and field conditions; drive timely decisions and issue resolution.
  • Provide constructability input during planning and design reviews, including development of RFIs, field clarifications, and redlines to support safe, practical, and efficient construction execution.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customer contacts at AEP, Dominion Energy, and other utility partners operating within the division's service area.
  • Represent Service Electric Company professionally in all customer interactions, reinforcing the organization’s standards for safety, quality, and field execution.
  • Facilitate timely resolution of field-level issues by coordinating directly with customer representatives and internal project management staff.
  • With a secondary focus on QA/QC, support the division’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
  • Establish and enforce construction quality standards consistent with applicable utility requirements, industry codes, and Service Electric Company best practices.
  • Support inspection and test planning (e.g., Inspection & Test Plans, hold points, turnover requirements) to align quality verification with the construction sequence.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and quality audits to verify that work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Identify quality deficiencies and ensure timely corrective action is taken; document findings and track resolution through closeout.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across all construction activities.
  • Support compilation of turnover packages (as-builts, test results, inspection records, nonconformance documentation) to meet customer and regulatory closeout requirements.
  • Maintain QA/QC records and documentation required by customers and regulatory authorities; support customer quality audits and reviews as needed.
