A growing, operations-driven construction and field services organization is seeking a hands-on individual to oversee the accounting and financial operations of a business unit. This role owns divisional financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management while partnering closely with operational leadership to improve profitability and support continued growth.

The ideal candidate brings 2-8 years of progressive accounting experience within construction or a project-based environment, strong job costing and WIP accounting expertise, and the ability to translate financial results into actionable business insights. Experience with a modern ERP system and a willingness to drive process improvements are important.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Group Controller and partners closely with divisional operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly close process and ensure accurate, timely financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Deliver monthly financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and insights for corporate and divisional leadership.
• Maintain accurate balance sheet accounts and support internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
• Coordinate audit support, respond to information requests, and resolve audit-related questions.
• Uphold established accounting policies, reporting deadlines, and financial processes.

Construction Accounting & Job Costing

• Oversee job costing, cost coding, margin reporting, and appropriate cost recognition.
• Partner with project managers and operations leaders to review job profitability, change orders, labor and material costs, and subcontractor expenses.
• Monitor project performance, identify margin risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain consistent job setup procedures, cost classifications, and project accounting workflows.
• Prepare and reconcile work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to the general ledger and deferred revenue accounts.
• Ensure accurate percentage-of-completion accounting, including job margin adjustments and cost recognition.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

• Lead annual budgeting and recurring monthly and quarterly forecasting processes.
• Develop financial models based on project backlog, new project activity, labor productivity, service volumes, pricing, and operating capacity.
• Analyze revenue trends, cost drivers, labor needs, vendor pricing, and margin improvement opportunities.
