Qualifications

• Proficiency in Sage 300 is required.
• Hands-on proficiency with G702/G703 billing is essential.
• Prior experience in construction accounting is required; interiors construction is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong Excel skills and job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
• Ability to collaborate with project teams and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support senior finance leadership with monthly close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

• Ensure lien waiver and COI tracking in coordination with project teams.
• Help manage and mentor accounting support staff.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls in Sage 300.

Senior Construction Accountant

Full-Time|Brooklyn, NY|In office, five days per week

Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000

About the Role

An established Brooklyn construction firm is seeking an experienced construction accountant to support senior finance leadership with the company’s day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who thrives in a construction accounting environment and is ready to grow into greater financial leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Support senior finance leadership with monthly close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
• Manage and oversee AIA billing on the G702/G703 forms, pay applications, and job costing across active projects.
• Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) reports, ensuring accurate job cost tracking and reconciliation to the general ledger.
• Review and process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and subcontractor payments.
• Assist with cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
• Ensure compliance with lien waiver and COI tracking in coordination with project teams.
• Help manage and mentor accounting support staff.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls within Sage 300.

• Hands-on proficiency with G702/G703 billing. This is the day-to-day work of the role, not a line on a list.
• Prior experience in construction accounting required. Interiors construction experience is what matters most — high-end residential is welcome but is not a requirement.
• Well versed in Excel.
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work collaboratively with project teams and senior leadership.
