Job summary

District Partners seeks a Staff Platform Engineer to own the connectivity architecture, spanning edge to cloud termination, and to lead the automation backbone that makes deployments repeatable. Expect deep involvement in secure transport and observability, shaping the platform for scale.

You will mentor senior engineers, drive design reviews, and align cross‑team roadmaps with product priorities, while delivering high‑impact infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and operating infrastructure automation in distributed environments.
• Deep networking fundamentals: L2/L3 design, segmentation, routing, NAT, firewall policy, secure transit.
• Depth in Cisco‑based platforms or Linux‑based networking; blend welcomed.
• Production‑grade scripting in Python and/or Bash; declarative IaC and configuration management (Ansible or equivalent).
• Experience designing secure connectivity patterns: site‑to‑site VPN, IPSec, WireGuard, mutual TLS, Zero‑Trust.
• Pipeline‑driven infrastructure delivery with CI/CD, automated validation, rollback patterns.
• Observability tooling for network and host state; metrics, logs, synthetic checks, drift detection.
• Mentoring engineers, setting technical standards, lifting team output.
• Ability to use AI tooling as an accelerator without core thinking dependency.

Responsibilities

• Define end‑to‑end architecture for connectivity from edge platforms to cloud‑side termination.
• Develop the delivery system: golden image patterns, declarative configuration, validation routines, handoff standards.
• Build the automation backbone to turn manual install work into repeatable pipelines.
• Design secure transit across customer networks, on‑prem, and cloud endpoints with Zero‑Trust by default.
• Implement observability and drift detection to keep environments scalable.
• Collaborate across platform, data, field, and operations to map priorities to a technical roadmap.
• Mentor and raise technical standards across Senior and Engineer‑level teammates.
