Job summary

Cooley LLP seeks a Senior Conflicts Analyst (New Business) to identify and resolve conflicts for incoming matters, partnering with attorneys and staff. The role requires independent judgment, detailed conflict reviews, and clear communications to ensure ethical and compliant engagements.

Responsibilities include complex conflict analysis, waivers, and engagement letters, plus ongoing ethics research and staff training. Prior law firm conflicts experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment or conflicts department, with 3+ in conflicts or legal intake.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking with high autonomy and ownership.
• Familiarity with ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and California Rules of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and process all conflict requests, including complex ones, ensuring engagements and hires are clear from business and ethical perspectives.
• Prepare conflict reports and search terms for high-volume requests.
• Perform corporate research to identify parties and potential conflicts; interpret results for partners and counsel.
• Draft waivers and engagement letters; provide updates and training as needed.
