Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer for a 100% remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. The ideal candidate will lead complex build and release activities across regulated environments, implement CM best practices, and mentor junior engineers.

You will design and automate CM tooling, manage configuration identification and baselining, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliant, repeatable deployments across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years’ relevant experience; eight or more years may substitute for education.
• Proven track record leading complex software builds/releases across environments.
• Experience in regulated/federal environments and CM practices.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks ensuring compliance with hardware configurations and documentation.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Lead build procedures and ensure repeatable deployment across projects.
• Train developers on CM tools and quality practices; mentor junior staff.
