Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Baltimore, MD is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall and concrete estimates from drawings and specs. You will generate labor rates, manage vendor relationships, and assemble bids for various contract types, while addressing design issues with the Preconstruction team.

You will also analyze project schedules, manage documentation, participate in constructability reviews, and support procurement through post-bid

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for concrete scopes of work.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field is a plus.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Proficient in estimating documents and quantitative analysis of documents.
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office; familiar with computer-based takeoff and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall and concrete estimates from drawings and specs.
• Generate labor productivity rates in coordination with historical data and project constraints.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to solicit competitive pricing.
• Prepare and assemble concrete bids for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Identify design issues and project risks, proposing solutions with Preconstruction.
• Analyze SPO concrete schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor-loaded schedules.
• Lead document management for SPO concrete projects and distribute to stakeholders.
• Attend constructability reviews and document potential issues with Trades and project team.
• Develop SPO concrete value analysis studies and cost-efficient alternatives.
• Prepare concrete scope requisitions and coordinate to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.
• Obtain and evaluate Trade proposals, participate in Post Bid Review, and support procurement for bid awards.
• May supervise Estimating team members and contribute to recruitment and performance reviews.
