Job summary

Gray is seeking a Chief Estimator for the Concrete Division across multiple project sites, including Phoenix, Atlanta, Franklin, Charleston, and Dallas. The role oversees the bid process, develops detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment and materials, and ensures accurate proposals through Building Connected and supplier portals.

The candidate will collaborate with the Business Unit Leader, Superintendents, Safety and Quality teams, and must have deep concrete knowledge, scheduling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
• Knowledge of design principles and engineering specifications related to concrete
• Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and other technical documents
• Understanding basic geometry and trigonometry
• Proficiency in using software programs related to concrete design and estimation (Tekla, E-Takeoff, Sage, Stack)
• Experienced with Construction Scheduling
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• The ability to travel to project sites for preconstruction and construction visits

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall bid process for estimating concrete projects
• Pursue projects throughout pre-proposal and proposal cycle
• Prepare detailed estimates of labor, equipment and materials
• Maintain Building Connected bid invitations and submit proposals
• Update bid information and vendor/supplier invites
• Collaborate with Business Unit Leader, General Superintendent, Safety and Quality to develop bid strategies
• Update bid logs in Mondays.com, Steel Division folders, Bid Status logs in Excel
• Understand crane erection costs and procedures for cost estimates
• Travel to project sites for preconstruction and construction visits
