Job summary

Canyon Contracting, Inc. in Mount Airy, MD, is seeking an experienced Concrete Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on concrete projects.

This hands-on role collaborates with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, foremen, customers, and vendors to keep work safe, on schedule, and to Canyon's quality standards, with a focus on coordination, scheduling, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in concrete construction.
• 5+ years as a Superintendent on concrete projects.
• Experience supervising 7+ employees on a jobsite.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and blueprints.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily concrete construction activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Plan and maintain project schedules with the General Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Coordinate with Foremen and adjust plans for weather, deliveries, and site conditions.
• Review drawings, submittals, RFIs/ASIs, and shop drawings.
• Lead daily safety toolbox talks and maintain site safety focus.
• Prepare daily jobsite reports and develop two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Resolve issues related to materials, scheduling, or progress.
• Develop strong customer and partner relationships and identify growth opportunities.
