Job summary

Canyon Contracting, Inc. in Mount Airy, Maryland seeks a seasoned Concrete Construction Superintendent to lead field crews on concrete projects.

You’ll oversee daily activities, coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials, and ensure safe, on-time delivery to Canyon’s quality standards. You’ll work closely with the General Superintendent and Project Manager, read plans, manage look-ahead schedules, and maintain thorough jobsite documentation while driving continuous safety and quality

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in concrete construction.
• 5+ years experience as a Superintendent in concrete construction.
• Experience managing 7+ employees on a jobsite.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and blueprints.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

Canyon Contracting, Inc. is looking for an experienced Concrete Construction Superintendent to join our Operations team.

The Superintendent is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations on concrete construction projects and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Canyon's quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position working closely with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, Foremen, customers, vendors, and other trades.

What You'll Do

• Manage daily concrete construction activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Work with the General Superintendent and Project Manager to plan and maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate daily work with Foremen and adjust plans as needed for weather, deliveries, manpower, and changing jobsite conditions.
• Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, project scope, schedules, RFIs, ASIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Review survey and jobsite layout and identify potential problems before they affect the project.
• Prepare daily jobsite reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Develop and present two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate concrete, stone, slab packages, and other material orders.
• Conduct daily huddles, including stretch and flex, hazard analysis, work assignments, and equipment inspections.
• Lead weekly safety toolbox talks and maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety.
• Maintain quality standards and complete pre-pour checklists.
• Attend Foreman and production meetings and coordinate work with other trades.
• Resolve jobsite issues involving materials, employees, scheduling, and project progress.
• Address conflicts and communication issues quickly and professionally.
• Build strong working relationships with customers and project partners.
• Help identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and grow Canyon's business.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in concrete construction
• 5+ years experience as a Superintendent working in concrete construction
• Previous experience managing 7 or more employees on a jobsite
• Strong understanding of concrete construction operations
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and blueprints
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
• CPR certification preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
