Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Senior Compressor Development Engineer to drive centrifugal compressor design for commercial HVAC systems. You will lead prototype work, guide the product life cycle from concept to launch, and apply DFMEA for robust design. This on-site role is based in Plymouth, MN.

Requires a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years in turbomachinery, CAD skills, and experience with compressor components such as gears, bearings and rotors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience; higher degree can substitute.
• Experience with turbomachinery, preferably centrifugal compressors.
• Solid understanding of stress, vibration, fatigue, and failure modes.
• Knowledge of centrifugal compressor components: gears, bearings, rotors.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement planning for compressor development including milestones.
• Design and analyze centrifugal compressor components from mechanical to electrical.
• Evaluate life-cycle performance with stress, fatigue, and vibration analyses.
• Involve in all product development steps from requirements to launch.
• Derive component specifications from assembly requirements and drawings.
