Job summary

Firefly Aerospace, headquartered in Briggs, TX, is seeking a Composite Materials Engineer III to join the advanced materials team. You will evaluate carbon fiber composites, perform failure analyses, and provide innovative solutions to support design, manufacturing and R&D projects.

This role focuses on materials, testing, and process improvements for space systems. You will collaborate across engineering to ensure quality, reliability and performance while driving material technology roadmaps

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Materials Engineering or related field required.
• 7+ years in carbon fiber composites research or manufacturing.
• Experience with carbon fiber prepregs and aerospace composites.
• Familiar with ASTM/ASM/NASA/ISO standards and their uses.

Responsibilities

• Research and select composite materials and processes for structural applications.
• Lead material testing and evaluations including microscopy, failure analysis, and mechanical testing.
• Develop and maintain material specifications and process controls.
• Drive design of experiments and process improvement campaigns.
• Provide technical support to design and manufacturing teams on non-metallic materials.
