Job summary

Firefly Aerospace seeks a Composite M&P Engineer II to support design, manufacturing, testing and R&D for nonmetallic materials, including carbon fiber composites and adhesives. You will evaluate new materials, perform failure analysis, and drive improvements with cross-functional teams at our Briggs, TX site.

The role emphasizes innovation, data-driven decisions, and collaboration across engineering disciplines, with travel up to 10% and a focus on process-architecture for aerospace

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in polymeric materials research, testing or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years in carbon fiber composite materials research, testing, processes or manufacturing.
  • Experience with carbon fiber prepreg systems.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ASM, NASA, ISO standards.
  • Strong data analysis and technical writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Research and select composite materials and processes for structural applications.
  • Lead material testing: microscopy, failure analysis and mechanical testing.
  • Develop and maintain materials technical specifications.
  • Support manufacturing and design teams on material selection and optimization.
  • Lead or support RCCA investigations.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members.
  • Represent Firefly on industry task groups.
