Firefly Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a Composite Materials & Polymers Engineer II to support design, manufacturing, testing, and R&D across Briggs, TX. You will evaluate materials like carbon fiber composites, lead material testing, and provide solutions to meet space-grade objectives.

This role emphasizes collaboration across teams and hands-on problem solving. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in carbon fiber composites, familiarity with aerospace standards, and strong analytical and writing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in polymeric materials research, testing or manufacturing.
• Broad technical understanding of composite material processes and operations including out-of-autoclave processes.
• Desire to establish cross-disciplinary relationships across the company.
• Experience coordinating and conducting laboratory work and data analysis.
• Ability to travel to customers and other Firefly sites up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Research and select composite materials and processes for structural applications on existing or new designs.
• Design, lead and perform related material testing and evaluations, such as microscopy and mechanical testing.
• Develop and implement improved material specifications and processes.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and design teams on non-metallic materials and processes.
