Job summary

Firefly Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a Composite Materials & Processes Engineer II to support design, manufacturing, testing and R&D for nonmetallic materials, including carbon fiber composites and adhesives.

You will evaluate new materials, perform failure analysis, and provide timely solutions to meet company objectives at Briggs, TX. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in polymeric materials research or testing, broad understanding of composite processes, and strong data analysis and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of polymeric materials research, testing or manufacturing.
• Broad understanding of composite material processes and aerospace-related applications.
• Experience coordinating laboratory work, data analysis, and technical writing.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites and other Firefly locations.

Responsibilities

• Research and select composite materials and processes for structural applications.
• Design, lead and perform material testing and evaluations (microscopy, failure analysis, thermal and mechanical testing).
• Execute characterization and allowable campaigns and develop material specifications.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and design teams in materials selection and optimization.
• Lead or support material failure analysis and root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge across the organization.
